Technical Difficulties

Many apologies for not posting any more yesterday. It seems blogger had a burp or something and was down for a few hours. I had a post all ready to go and everything, and then this lovely message popped up on my screen:

Adios, Bob.

Well, no good news this morning. Bob is still missing. He wasn’t at Wal-Mart, CompUSA, Target or Shop ‘n Save. We combed the house and the car last night and he was nowhere to be found. I’d guess that some lucky little kid found him at one of the aforementioned stores, so we’re writing Bob off as a donation to the greater good of all children, and send him off with best wishes to spread peace, love and harmony. Some day, that kid is gonna tell his or her kids and grandkids, “When I was little, I found this really cool octopus, and he became my best friend.” Go, Bob, go and spread cheer and happiness. Good luck, Godspeed, and farewell.

What about Bob?

We have lost Bob. Sigh. I’m more upset than Zozo, I think. Actually, I know that I am. I know this because she is still a very happy little baby who squeals and coos and giggles, and I’m an emotional wreck. I have already stopped at Shop ‘n Save to check with their lost and found, and have Target’s contact info pulled up in my browser so I can call them the minute they open at 8 a.m. I also have to call CompUSA and Wal-Mart, but I’m pretty sure we had him when we left Wal-Mart Sunday morning. I’m thinking we lost him somewhere between CompUSA and Target, or some other kid discovered him at Shop ‘n Save and adopted him.

Oodles of Giggles

Busy night tonight, but good. M ran to Sam’s and CompUSA while I picked up Zozo and started dinner. While I was snapping fresh green beans and assembling a mighty fine salad, he was watching the dolt at CompUSA completely unpack and repack the Epson PictureMate we purchased yesterday and returned, unopened, today. We didn’t even look at the package closely, much less open it, but the cashier insisted that “it doesn’t look like it came packaged from the factory.” Um, yeah, if you look right over there, at that stack of 25 Epson PictureMates, you’ll see that they all look exactly like this one. Have fun there, Haskell.

Fat Management

We got this new stuff in from one of our vendors called Firm and Tone Serum, and the label says it’s “for Cellulite and Stretch Mark Management.” Yeah, um, I don’t really want to manage my cellulite so much as just get rid of it altogether. Managing it means I have it, when I’d really prefer to not have any at all.

Hi, I’m Siskel. Or Ebert. Whichever one isn’t dead.

So we started watching The Aviator last night. Knew Howard Hughes was a bit freaky, but jeez. This guy was a real nutcase. His mom screwed him up fine, with the whole germaphobia thing. I know there is a scientific word for that, and I’m sure it’s not germaphobia, but I’m too lazy to Google it right now. So, great, now I’m all worried that I’ll turn Zoe into a terrified weirdo who can barely function in the world. Oh, wait, I hate to clean…so there’s virtually no fear of turning her into a germaphobe. Looks like I’ll just have to find another way to mess with her.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Uncle Steve is in town this weekend, and is, in fact, at the Cardinals/Cubs game as I type. We’re getting shellacked, and I attribute that to Steve bringing his friends, Izzy and Dina (Cubs fans mentioned in previous post) to The Lou, and the Cards are graciously allowing their team to win for a bit so they don’t feel it was a completely wasted trip.

Happy Birthday, Joey K.!

Last night was a fun birthday party for Cousin Joey. The theme was St. Louis Cardinals, the beer was cold, and the company was lots of loved ones…what could be better? Tons of fun was had by all, with lots of laughs (is there ever anything different with this family?) and a few surprises (Dan nailing both Michelle and Ryan with a single water balloon, Steve arriving with friends – who we decided to like despite their misplaced loyalty to the Chicago Cubs, because they are lovely people, and to be honest, shouldn’t we all just feel sorry for Cubs fans? Yes, I know they kicked our butts in extra innings last night, but it was a fluke.)

You know, as a career, I don’t want to do that.

“I don’t want to sell anything, buy anything or process anything as a career. I don’t want to sell anything bought or processed…or buy anything sold or processed…or process anything sold, bought or processed…or repair anything sold, bought or processed. You know, as a career, I don’t want to do that.”
